This a Sunday evening hockey league aimed at ages 17 yrs old and older.
Our goal is to have organized fun. This is far from Pro hockey, it’s basically
pick up hockey with a bit more of organization. We are aiming at all skill
levels and hope that this will appeal to everybody interested.
Games will be set Sunday evening starting after 5pm; games will be held
at Imerman Memorial Park off Midland Rd. in Saginaw Township. We will try to
start and get the games over in a timely fashion. The idea is that after 5pm the
heat from the summer will start to break, also if people have plans for the
Weekend they can be home in time to enjoy a game of hockey before the work week
starts.
League
Overview
We are trying to organize a league where we can have fun playing with a
group of guys every week. While also trying to keep the cost down, there will be
a minimal cost involved for all players. The league will keep full stat tracking
for all players. So every week for fun you can jump on the Leagues website and
see how you and your friends are stacking up against the competition.
We will play with a ball. The ball we will use is the Blue Bauer Hockey
Ball. Readily bought from Perianis hockey shop right here in Saginaw. We have
choose to use a ball because it’s not as hard, less chance of injuries. Hockey
however is a dangerous sport at any level. The league will not mandate any
protective gear. A Hockey Helmet will be required. Made for Hockey gloves, Shin
guards, and elbow pads are also is highly recommended. This league is intended
for fun, it’s no longer fun if somebody gets hurts. Since this is a Roller
Hockey league. Inline skates are a must for skaters. Goalies do not have to wear
skates at all, they can play on their feet. Made for inline hockey skates are
recommended not mandatory. Casual skates, such as “Rollerblades” are fine. We are aiming to keep cost for the
player down, so whatever you may have will likely be just fine to play with.
It’s just all about fun.
The games will be played 5 on 5. It will be four skaters, and a
goalie. Games will be played with
TWO 13 Minute halves. The clock will be running time, until the last 2 Minutes
if the score is within 3. There will be a 4 minute half time between the 13min
segments. We will be calling “limited” penalties. A penalty will be served by
way of a penalty shot. In all league situations the clock will be stopped during
a penalty shot attempt. No offsides, or no icing will be used. The game will be
as free flowing as possible.
